Have you heard of Malaysian-Indonesian fashion designer Jovian Mandagie?

by Admin DailyseniOctober 16, 2016

JOVIAN Mandagie is a Malindo (Malaysia – Indonesia) fashion designer whose simple yet elegant couture couture has decked some of Malaysia’s most famous celebrities. His clients include Siti Nurhaliza, Erra Fazira, Linda Onn, Deborah Henry and more.

Born in Indonesia but raised in Malaysia, Jovian has been in the industry since his early twenties. His collection of contemporary designs with a blend of Nusantara elements define his place in the fashion world.

His designs are subtle with delicate embroidery as seen in his kurungs and kebayas collection. He has keen eye for detail especially in his embellishments, which takes up a lot of his effort. As a result, it is easy to fall in love in a Jovian Mandagie original!

During the launch of 2008’s Islamic Fashion Festival, Jovian presented his La Reign collection. It showcased a blend of Arab and French tailoring and also included bold and dramatic gowns in black and white. The then-Queen of Malaysia HM Tuanku Nur Zahirah was also present, gracefully adorning Jovian’s couture.

JM’s collection has won him several awards both locally and internationally. Among his many achievements are Malaysia International Fashion Week’s Star Couturier Award 2011, Designer of the Year 2011, and STYLO’s Best Designer Showcase in 2012 and 2013.

Aside from his couture, Jovian’s bridal collection are also stunning. Many famous celebrities have donned his bridal collection on their big day like Anita Sarawak, Ning Baizura and Umie Aida. Across the Malaysian border, JM’s brand can also be seen on HM Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha of Brunei, as well as Indonesian stars Kris Dayanti, Rossa and popular duo Ratu.

Earlier this year, Jovian collaborated with Johorean princess, Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Sultan Ibrahim Ismail to produce 21 pieces. The designs were influenced by her sense of style, personality and character, and each piece was named after the princess’s loved ones. The collection was released soon after in March with prices ranging from RM459 to RM1,488, with 10% of all proceeds donated to Cerebral Palsy Johor.

From actresses and singers to beauty queens to royals, it seems like this talented and well-known designer has no limits to his ability. We look forward to see what else he has to showcase in the near future.

Jovian Mandagie’s couture is available at his flagship store in Bangsar and also numerous outlets in Shah Alam, Bangi and Kota Kinabalu. Check out his website for more comprehensive information!
