More Cheras News: IKEA Launches “Get Cheras To Cheras” Music Video, Includes Twerking Panda

Ever since IKEA has been around, there has always been the age-old debate of the pronunciation of ‘IKEA’. Let’s solve this once and for all.

IKEA is not in fact pronounced eye-kay-ah, but ee-KAY-uh. Here’s an  clip just for the extra clarification. Understood? Sweet.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we need to say something about IKEA’s “Get Cheras to IKEA Cheras”. In case you haven’t heard, IKEA is finally opening its second store in Malaysia on the 19 November – and yes, it’s going to be in Cheras.

With this exciting news comes the release of IKEA Malaysia’s music video to the song. “Get Cheras to IKEA Cheras” premiered a day before Five Arts Centre‘s Cheras The Musical premiered, so whoever’s in charge of getting Cheras on the world map, you’ve obviously been doing a smashing good job.

IKEA is calling its Cheras opening the ‘biggest housewarming party in Malaysia’, and we will let their music video convince you.

“Get Cheras to IKEA Cheras” is an unbelievably catchy tune, and the music video is a win for us, because on top of dancing IKEA products it also features a twerking panda.

On top of that, the song possesses a number of cringe-worthy but oh-so-delightful puns built around the lifestyle brand’s product names. This is a stellar example of advertising, and we’re sold.

The music video was produced by BBH Asia Pacific whose IKEA projects also includes the famous  commercial. Directing the music video is Nieto, who currently serves for Stink Shanghai. We believe the whole team behind this has obviously out-done themselves.

All we have left to say is kudos to everyone for this puntastic and creative IKEA promo. Remember guys, in two weeks time make sure to get Cheras to Cheras.  *cue twerking panda*
