INTERNET TV service iflix has partnered up with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) to provide its service to home UniFi and Streamyx high speed broadband customers. The collaboration will allow eligible customers access to content on iflix at no additional cost.
From mid-December, all TM Unifi and Streamyx customers will receive a 12-month iflix subscription bundled with their existing TM service for free.
In a world first, the iflix system will instantly recognise if the user is on a TM Unifi or Streamyx connection, and will tag that device, be it a phone, laptop, desktop or tablet, and enable iflix on that device to allow customers access to iflix anytime. Customers will also be able to download shows to their mobile phone or tablet to watch their favourite shows, even when they aren’t connected to the internet.
According to Executive Vice President of New Media at TM, Jeremy Kung, the partnership is their first collaboration with an OTT player, and also the first in the ASEAN region for iflix. TM also remains open to more collaborations with OTT partners.
Now available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, iflix plans to continue expanding throughout Southeast Asia — it has almost 1 million subscribers less than 6 months since launching.
iflix offers consumers content ranging from Hollywood to local TV shows for a flat monthly subscription fee. Subscribers get unlimited access with no ads and can also access the platform via up to five devices under a single account.
