These Are The Films Competing In The 28th Tokyo International Film Festival

by The Daily SeniOctober 2, 2015

THE 28th Tokyo International Film Festival announced its full line-up on the 29th of September. This year’s main competition section saw 16 films selected from a total of 1,409 titles from 86 countries and regions.

Of note, last year’s Asian Future section of the competition saw Nik Amir Mustapha‘s Terbaik Dari Langit making the cut. This year, no Malaysian film has made the festival line-up but our ASEAN neighbours have significant presence.

Thailand has two films in the festival, with Kongdej Jaturanrasmee‘s Snap making the main competition, while Indonesia’s Ismail Basbeth secures a place in the Asian Future segment with The Crescent Moon.

After focusing on Thai cinema in last year’s edition of the festival’s Crosscut Asia, this year the spotlight is on the works of Filipino cinema and the works of director Brillante Mendoza. Crosscut Asia is an initiative by the Tokyo International Film Festival to enlighten audiences on Asian cinema as well as celebrate films from the region.
