WEEKS ago, Richard Koh Fine Art featured a number of works by local artists for Malaysian Art, A New Perspective. That exhibition aimed to introduce the diversity of art practices here in Malaysia. This October however sees the gallery kicking up some dust for China’s Zhang Zhenyu.
ON a humid Tuesday evening, The Daily Seni team made its way to Lot 229 on Jalan Maarof. Upon arrival, we stared at the chic building exterior for a few moments. It was an initially intimidating sight but entering the pristine establishment, we were greeted with gallery manager Michael Low‘s warm smile and the aroma of fried karipap. This was a surprise: we’ve steered clear of fine art institutions because we were afraid of not knowing the scene but Michael was helpful in showing us around the space.
