Indie hotspots like these have gained their own cultural significance within Kuala Lumpur and have become iconic places to perform, whether you’re a seasoned artist or are just starting out. Places like these are important. It’s important to have a place to experiment with your individual sense of music when the mainstream market is saturated with whatever sells best these days – candy pop, love songs or a beat you can dance to.
In the open mic scene, the clinking of coffee cups and glasses at the counter, make for wonderful instrumental accompaniments to the sound of poetry and music.
BUDDING rock band Skies Are Red will be taking their music to Penang for the first time on their Take Them Down Mini Tour 2016 this week. After performing live regularly around notable venues in the Klang Valley such as Merdekarya, the band will debut live in George Town from 23 – 24 July.
