‘Pulang’, a film starring Remy Ishak and Puteri Aishah, gets a novel adaptation

The novel adaption of the film “Pulang“, starring Remy Ishak and Puteri Aishah was officially launched on the 27th of April 2018! The event was held on the opening day of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC).

The novel adaptation was a project by Primeworks Studios, in collaboration with Karyaseni Sdn. Bhd. and award-winning novelist Lily Haslina Nasir was assigned for the writing process.

The event was officiated by Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Primeworks Studios alongside Dato’ Sri Wan Mohd Muzri Ramli, Managing Director Penerbitan Karyaseni Sdn. Bhd. at Tanjung Lounge Riverside Restaurant, PWTC.

The event was also graced by the main cast of the film, Remy Ishak and Puteri Aishah who play as the main characters; Othman and Che Thom.

Fans of the novel adaptation were also given the opportunity to meet the author and the cast at a signing session held later during the event!

 


About the novel

“Pulang” the novel is another masterpiece by Lily Haslina Nasir, a prolific author who’s written over a few 30 novels such as Izinkan Ku Menjadi Sayapmu and Lelaki Lingkungan Cinta.

The story is set in a time span between the 40s and 60s, bringing the reader back into time through the perspective of Malay Seafarers.

 

The novel tells a beautiful story across 3 generations, from the 1940s to the present day. Othman, a fisherman from a village in Serkam, Malacca decides to sail around the world to fulfill his promise of wealth for his beloved wife, Che Thom and their only son, Omar. While Othman is away, Che Thom faithfully waits for his return for 61 years. The story was inspired by a true event from Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar and Omar Othman themselves!

The novel is priced at RM25 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM28 in Sabah & Sarawak, and will also be available nationwide from mid-May 2018 at MPH, Popular, other bookstores and also online by mid of May 2018.
