Protocol Afro is coming all the way from Jakarta to rock Cyberjaya tonight!

by The Daily SeniSeptember 23, 2017

They’ve been labelled as ‘Alternative Geniuses’ by the likes of Nylon Magazine Indonesia, and has graced the SEA music scene at Baybeats, Singapore and Hello ASEAN Music Festival in Bali –   Protocol Afro is not your usual Alt-pop band. The six-piece ensemble is all about making music that people can dance to, as well as head bang in a mosh at the same time.

This wildcard band is often found to be a gem among the rough; their energetic sound ranges from their influences of Post-punk Bloc Party, Electro-pop Phoenix and Indie-rock Arctic Monkeys; and by creating music that is entirely raw and new to the ears.

Protocol Afro consists of Ditto (Vocals), Giano (Rhythm Guitar), Mayo (Bass), Kritian (Drums), Panji (Lead Guitar) and Ferdi (Synth) who hail from the nusantara wonderland; Jakarta, Indonesia. Their presence proves to be an extension of the talents that Indonesian bands have to offer in international waters, by creating unique pop anthems that push the boundaries of mainstream pop music. The band likes to experiment with their music to keep their sound constantly evolving, all the while maintaining it’s music under the pop spectrum.

Their song ‘Music (Dance with me)’ is an awesome testimony to their more upbeat and groovy sound, which is a synth-driven indie pop song that was nominated a VIMA Award in 2013. Then, you have ‘Sunday Morning’, which showcases Ditto’s soulful vocals over a garage rock track which takes a more somber feeling to Protocol Afro’s music.

Convinced? We sure are! Do check out their gig happening tonight at a brand new gig venue in Cyberjaya; The Element Space. Here’s a chance for those in the area to go out and have an exciting night out filled with quality music and tons of fun.
