Guess Who Just Got First Runner-Up At Miss World Talent 2015?

by The Daily SeniDecember 16, 2015

Miss Malaysia World 2015 Brynn Lovett came in second at the Miss World Talent competition on 14 December in Sanya, China.

Born Brynn Zalina Lovett, the choreographer and swimming instructor born in Subang Jaya impressed judges at Miss World 2015 Talent Fast Track with her dancing skills, prompting a standing ovation. One of several challenges held by beauty pageant Miss World Organisation prior to the finals this Saturday, the event saw contestants doing their best to impress judges.

Currently in Sanya, China for the competition, Brynn is of Australian and Murut descent.

Her best efforts however wasn’t enough to beat Miss Guyana World Lisa Punch‘s performance of her self-penned song “One Last Time”, a tribute to her late cousin.

Brynn was one of thirteen contestants who qualified for the Talent Fast Track.

Brynn’s performance at this year’s pre-event challenges is almost on par with Miss Malaysia World 2014 Dewi Liana Serieshta, who last year became the first Malaysian to win the Miss World Talent title at Miss World 2014. As a result, Dewi found her way into the Top 25 — winning any pre-event challenge ensures a contestant’s place in the overall Top 25.

Historically, Malaysia has on occasion sent in strong contenders to the competition. Actress/producer Lina Teoh (of Kopitiam fame) made history as the best performing Malaysian on Miss World when she ended the competition as second runner-up in 1998. Before Lina, four other Malaysians made the Top 10.

Clever, sophisticated and beautiful women like Lina Teoh are rare (or put off by the concept of a pageant) however; she remains the last Malaysian contestant to have ventured into Miss World’s coveted Top 10. Our most successful contestant since has been Deborah Priya Henry, who reached the Top 15 in 2007.

Now in its 65th year, Miss World will hold its finals at the Beauty Crown Grand Theatre in Sanya, China from 21 November – 19 December.
