The Biggest Release Yet for a Malaysian Movie in China: To screen in 10,900 cinemas

Malaysian movie, Think Big Big, directed by award-winning director Chiu Keng Guan, is poised to be the biggest release yet for a Malaysian movie in China, when it hits 10,900 cinemas and 60,079 silver screens on 24 May 2019. Think Big Big will be distributed by China Film Group Corporation, the largest film enterprise in China, as well as Huaxia Film Distribution, Pearl River Pictures and Beijing National Shadow Film Publishing Co., Ltd.; and marketed by Beijing Aoweier Film & TV Culture Communication Co., LTD.
The release of Think Big Big in the world’s most populous country whose gross box office is setting new records for both foreign and Chinese domestic films is a major coup for the producer of the film, Astro Shaw. It is a recognition of the universal appeal of Think Big Big’s uplifting story.
Chiu, Director of Think Big Big said, “As a Malaysian film maker, I am excited about this golden opportunity to share Think Big Big with cinemagoers in China. I hope the movie will touch their hearts too as it has in Malaysia. We are living in an era of where many are seeking for popularity in social media.
Think Big Big offers an honest and humorous look at how it can change us. I hope it encourages us to cherish our time with family and friends, and most importantly, learn to love and accept yourself.”
Produced by Astro Shaw, Golden Screen Cinemas, Multimedia Entertainment & MM2 Entertainment, Think Big Big was released in cinemas across Malaysia and Brunei in February 2018 and garnered more than RM5.4million in the box office.
Think Big Big stars former Miss Astro, Serene Lim and Vivienne Oon, singer Ruby Yap, Moon Yoong, Joanne
Lau and Keigrey Kam. The film carries an uplifting message about learning to love and accept yourself through the story of Moon, a confident plus-sized girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut. Moon lives a carefree life, brings happiness to those around her, and is contented with her job as a mascot. One day,  reality hits and she has to face accumulating debt, forcing her to participate in a competition which requires her to share her fitness journey on social media.
