Art Exhibition

by Wendi SiaDecember 9, 2015

HOM Art Trans presents the annual printmaking exhibition by Cetak Kolektif showcasing remarkable works by 8 contemporary artists that will be on display from 12 to 24 December 2015. Following a successful inaugural showTest Print in 2014, this edition entitled TPII introduces 4 new artists Mark Tan, Agnes Lau Pik Yoke, Fadhli Ariffin and Toh May Xuen who form the growing collective alongside Sabihis Md Pandi, Hazul Bakar and founders Samsudin Wahab and Faizal Suhif.

Conceived as a celebration for the art of print, Cetak Kolektif aims to examine each individual’s concept of printmaking from their past, present and future practices by employing centuries-old Western technique into contemporary context. As co-founder Samsudin Wahab explains: “Faizal Suhif and I started Cetak Kolektif to celebrate the dying art of printmaking and to encourage young Malaysian artists to continue producing artworks in this form.”

The exhibition title TPII derives from the printmaking term “trial proof”, a precursor to limited edition series in the process of producing prints. Like “test print”, these preliminary prints are pulled to enable the artist to inspect, refine and perfect the prints to the desired results. As a sequential collective show, TPII represents the second run – to showcase the fruits of their artistic labour in a unified manner – an optimistic progress from Test Print, evident in its participants and the excellent works on display.

TPII by Cetak Kolektif will be officiated by lecturer from the Fine Art department of UiTM Shah Alam and also a printmaker Mr. Jamil Mat Isa on Saturday, 12 December 2015 at HOM Art Trans, 6A Jalan Cempaka 16,Taman Cempaka,68000 Ampang, Selangor. Admission is free and all are invited to come and join the official launch.
