Crafting Futures: Southeast Asia Craft Forum by the British Council in collaboration with Institut Kraf Negara was a one day event that will bring impact for many years to come for the industry of craftsmanship.

Here to further push the boundaries of art is local denim brand Tarik Jeans, who recently showcased their Resort 2019 Monsoon collection at this year’s Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week on the 11th of August.
Recently catching our attention amongst the many local brands is ‘Gunting Batu Kain’. The clothing label that hails from Ipoh, which makes traditional clothes with a modern twist. It’s fun and fresh whilst maintaining a modern classic feel. The clothes that come in cool patterns are designed to flatter different body types, allowing for everyone to enjoy the clothes they make.
On my 18th birthday, I walked home to a green paper bag on the couch, picked it up and read the letters. “Kate Spade”, it said, printed in gold as I ran my fingers over it. My heart fluttered with excitement as I prepared to open it. It was my first time ever receiving something so fancy. I felt like I was in of those coming of age moments in a John Hughes’ movie. Or at least it felt like that.
